Cowabunga Bay Construction Tour 04-10-2009

Howdy Everyone,

I'm now home from my Cowabunga Bay Construction Tour and wow have things changed since the last Construction Tour on 02/28/2009. Back then nothing too exciting was happening except for Ground Work. Now, Things are going up, Slides, Scenery, Towers for the Giant Water Play Structure, Walls for Cowabunga River, etc. Cowabunga Bay is also bringing in a Larger Mobile Office for Hiring. We will be sure to let you know when Cowabunga Bay will start Hiring.

Giant Water Play Structure -
Scenery Items ("Go West" Surfer Dude & Life Guard Tower) and Platforms are being added to the Completed Tower Sections with about 12 More of the Towers to go up. About half of the Splash Pad and Footers are Completed, with the rest of the Footers, including those for the "Champagne Bowl" Slide (which will be added in the Future), being Completed Monday. The 1,200 Gallon Giant Tipping Bucket that Displays "World's Biggest Splash" has arrived and will be placed on Monday. This Bucket is HUGE! More Signage and Scenery Items for the Giant Water Play Structure keep arriving as well.

Slides -
About 1/4 of MONDO, specifically the last 1/4 of MONDO before the Drop into the Shut Down Lane, is in Place. More Support Columns for MONDO, BOMBORA, BONZAI, HANG TEN, and HANG FIVE have been placed and are ready for Slide and Tower Sections.

Cowabunga River -
The Walls for Cowabunga River are all in place and unlike most Lazy Rivers, the Walls of Cowabunga River are made out of Fiberglass and just need a Concrete Floor to be Completed. All of the Plumbing Fittings are in Place and ready for the Concrete Floor.

Structures -
The Footer Forms for the Restroom Building are being put in place and the Footers will be Poured on Monday. The Cynderblock for the Walls of the Restroom Building are beginning to arrive on large pallets as well.

Cowabunga Bay is going up fast and I can't wait for opening day in about 2 Months! Thanks again to Shane Huish for the Construction Tour.

I'm really interrested in knowing how much season passes are going to be to see how they compare to Raging Waters. We always buy passes and would love to have prices on-line to compare with other water parks in utah.

So when are they planning on adding the bowl slide exactly? Will it be with the kiddie pool next season or another time? Also, what about the mat racer and the flow rider? I'm just really excited to see Cowabunga Bay be built to its full potential.

Admission Prices, including Season Pass Prices, will be officially posted on CowabungaBay.com very soon. The "Champagne Bowl" Slide and Kiddie Pool are slated to be added for 2010.

Wow. The posted prices are quite high. They are the same as seven peaks which has 10 times the room. The season passes are the same as going to Lagoon. So much for an affordable, neighborhood water park. It looks a lot like libertyland in lehi small and pricey and always empty!

Holly,

My latest post to the blog, A Bucket of a Different Color, has direct price comparisons between Cowabunga Bay and the 3 other Major Water Park along the Wasatch Front.

Cowabunga Bay's 4 Hour Admission Prices are actually quite affordable. Not to mention that at Cowabunga Bay, you won't spend half of your time waiting in lines like at other water parks, paying for Tube Rentals, or Parking. Unlike Liberty Land, Cowabunga Bay is owned by Huish Entertainment Group (HEG), which has been operating Family Entertainment Centers and Attractions for well over 50 years.
