The Cat is Out of the Bag!

From Cowabunga Bay Construction Update 04/20/2009

Thanks to KSL-TV, the cat is out of the bag! The new CowabungaBay.com is Live and Employment Information has been posted!

KSL-TV Reporter Alex Cabrero reported on Cowabunga Bay this afternoon, however, he made several mistakes in his Report. The KSL-TV Reporter stated, "A water play structure is different from a water park. It's much smaller and all combined into one structure, instead of spread out over several acres." The Giant Water Play Structure Combines Several Traditional Water Park Attractions and Stacks it on top of Each other into one large compact footprint. He also makes no mention of the Lazy River, Cowabunga River. The KSL-TV Reporter also said, "Then, there's this splash bucket, which every five minutes will fill up and dump some 2,000 gallons of water on people below. Huish says that, too, is the world's biggest." The Largest of the Two Giant Tipping Buckets holds only 1,200 Gallons and will dump every 5-7 Minutes. AHHHH! (screaming my head off) I'm soo EXCITED!

As I was excited about a month ago, I am not as excited now after they have posted their season ticket prices. We might go once this year, but for my family they have priced us out of getting season passes. There is no family pass and if I am to get a season pass to anywhere, it will most likely be Raging Waters. I understand wanting to recoup their money, but this is only a two acre park without the amenities that some of the other parks have. Maybe I will be willing to pay their steep fee's once they have added more to it.

I am, sadly, very disappointed with the prices that they have chosen for Cowabunga Bay. Lagoon's season passes are cheaper and include all the rides and the Lagoon-a-beach Water Park which is larger than Cowabunga Bay. Seven Peaks Water Park is also much larger with a wave pool, a lazy river that is longer than the Cowabunga river, and a numerous variety of slides ranging from tube runs to body slides to speed slides. Seven Peak's season pass is only $49.99. I hope that the prices will lower because right now it feels like the $99 dollar season pass is taking away the neighborhood feel that this park was supposed to have.

I don't think there is anything I could say to change any one's mind, but I think it would be good to put Cowabunga Bay and it's Prices into Perspective. Cowabunga Bay is a "Neighborhood Water Park," which means it is Compact and will never be the size of a Traditional Water Park. Cowabunga Bay's Season Pass Prices are inline with other Water Parks in the Area. Seven Peaks, Raging Waters, and Lagoon/Lagoon-A-Beach offer "Pre-Season" Season Pass Discounts that Cowabunga Bay will not offer this year. Of course, after the Season Begins, all three other Parks raise their Season Pass Prices to around $100.00, about the same as Cowabunga Bay. Both Seven Peaks and Lagoon have Paid Parking and a Season Parking Pass will cost you $25.00 and $45.00 respectively, where Cowabunga Bay offers Free Parking. Some may look at Cowabunga Bay as offering something LESS for MORE, but having a Compact Park might be what people are looking for.
